 Experience Bremen’s maritime heritage

BTZ_HafenFlowing through the heart of Bremen is the Weser river. This old trading route was the driving force behind the city’s emergence as a proud Hanseatic centre. Bremen’s sea-faring traditions are still alive and well today and have a big part to play in its unique appeal. The Schlachte Embankment runs right beside the Weser river and is a magnet for locals and tourists alike. The banks of the river are lined with cafés and restaurants; from their various terraces and gardens you can watch a procession of modern and old-fashioned boats as they pass by the quayside. Bremen’s fast-growing Überseestadt area is home to unusual venues, trendy restaurants and nautically-themed eateries. This vibrant new community for the 21st century has transformed what was once the city docks.
